ConClave Committee Biographies Been in Fandom for almost 20 years and lost my mind enough to be Concom in about the year 2000. Have always loved science fiction. Trying out for “World’s Busiest Schedule” award by being Chair this Conclave. My second SF convention, and the first I worked, was ConClave in 1980. I've been involved with the ConClave concom every year since then, and always enjoyed myself. It was also at a ConClave that I was inducted into the Dorsai Irregulars. I have chaired both ConClave and ConFusion, worked a variety of departments, and been a FanGOH at other conventions. One way or another, Fandom has brought most of the most meaningful things I've experienced into my life, and I'm forever grateful to it. I think ConClave is one of the best science fiction conventions around. It tries to have something for everyone. I'm proud to be a part of it I joined fandom in 1974, and took to it like a duck to water. I was inducted into the Dorsai Irregulars in 1975. I started ConClave thirty one years ago, in 1976, as a club project. It has grown in fame and attendance over the years. I have chaired ConClave several different times. I have also been a department head. I have run the Dealers Room for the last 25 years. I also ran ConFusion's Dealers Room for 24 years, been a department head or deputy at other conventions, and done security with the D.I. at many conventions. I have been pleased to have been a FanGOH for 4 different conventions. Conclave is the child of my brain, augmented by a lot of thought and sweat on the part of many others over the years. It will always be special to me. Come and enjoy it. I've been in Fandom since 1974 attending my first worldcon. I helped organize Waldo&Magic on EMU's campus that year and helped develop Conclave from the beginning. I've had something to do with Conclave most years since then. You usually see me in registration. I've worked security at worldcons as well as being that pretty lady handing out the Hugos on stage. I love going to conventions all over the world. I am also very much a Trekker (although not obsessed about it). Gir Tygrin (A.K.A. Jonathan L. Wilson): Pronunciation: Gir Ti-grin n. 1. Furry Event Organizer, Costumer, Body Painter, Story teller, Tiger. 2. Someone who is a Volvo fanatic. 3. Administrator of www.michiganfurs.com 4. A computer technician and all around geek. I've been involved with fandom for 14 years, been on various con committees (Fusion, Clave and the now defunct Traption). I've also gone to several other conventions as a vendor (good way to see how other folks do it). Started working with Clave full time in 2005, and plan to continue to do so for a long time to come. I've been involved in Fandom in varying degrees for 24 years. I have actively worked on conventions from Toronto to Atlanta, from San Antonio to Baltimore, being on as many as 6 committees a year. (I've gotten better...it's now only 3 most years). I was inducted into the Dorsai Irregulars 16 years ago, quickly earning the moniker of Evil. As a member of this group, I travel all over offering our services as a trained FANNISH team. Engineer, mathematician, and all-around nice-o guy. First ConClave: 2005. First con: Motor City Comic Con, May 1998. First costume: generic Ren Fest attire, which has evolved into Maeglin Tasartir, Elven Adventurer Extraordinaire. Costumes made or assembled: 13 in all. Favorite costume: Obi-Wan Kenobi from Episode I. Favorite food: fresh peaches. Shares birthday with: Alice Cooper, Rosa Parks, Natalie Imbruglia, and Oscar De La Hoya. I joined fandom in 1975 when I attended Boscon 12. I found myself hooked and I've been involved (more or less) ever since. I've worked with ConClave and occasionally ConFusion and Penquicon since I moved to Michigan in 1985. I've learned not to complain unless I can do it better myself...that's why I'm the head of Programming this year! Polymath, computer engineer, and incorrigible punster. (Do not incourrige.) His license to perform miracles, unfortunately, has been revoked...but he still manages to create them upon occasion. (Shhh.... don't tell ....) ConClave I was his second Con, and he's been at (almost) every ConClave since. Kim has been involved in Michigan fandom for more than 15 years. Kim and her husband Richard met online discussing their mutual interest of science fiction tv shows, video games, and renaissance festivals. Kim enjoys scrap booking, board games, fashion, and knows almost all the words to every song she listens to . Kim has helped run ConClave Operations, Registration, Programming and ConSuite over the years. Richard Sussman has been involved in fandom for more than 15 years. Richard relocated from Philadelphia to Michigan after meeting his wife Kim and he has been involved in Michigan fandom for seven years. Richard is a graphic design student, completed his first professional book cover, serves as graphic design coordinator for Starfleet Region 13 and as ConClave's graphic dude. Richard is a dedicated Mac user, dabbles in 3D animation, reads fantasy novels, and enjoys anime and lots of different shows and movies. Richard has helped run ConClave Programming, ConSuite, and Publications. |
